Sandiso Ngxabani hails from Butterworth in the Eastern Cape. He was born to a
Christian mother and a father to whom culture was and is everything. "My father
may not be a religious person but he respects the bible immensely," says Sandiso
affectionately known in the circles as Saida. It is under these different belief
systems that Sandiso was groomed to be the virtuous, strong willed and YHWH
fearing man he is today.
This vibrant young man is likely to go down history as one of the greatest
poets ever to emerge out of the Eastern Cape, as his poetry is insanely moving.
He is not one who recites for fame or for the sake of reciting he graces the
stage as someone who is possessed by spirits unknown to mankind. When he graces
the stage his presence alone commands attention and his known around the circles
for his exuberant delivery. His poetry demands that you pay close attention
because you are likely to miss the message if you not.

His love for poetry was inspired by his love and devotion to YHWH (a Hebrew
word meaning God). Saida says, growing up he loved walking at night from his
childhood friends home Ade, while his peers carried knives and all sorts to
protect themselves, he relied on YHWH he believed that Yah will protect him
from harm’s way and not once did he let him down. Even today he still roams
around the night unarmed because he believes that the most high watches over
him.”Yah never lets down those who trust him whole heartedly”.
When Saida delivers a verse whether about love or social commentary you will
find that there is a greater force, which lurks behind his words, a force of
reason and morality coming from the most high. His verses are not just a bunch
of words orchestrated to impress, each word he delivers is laden with meaning
and is thought provoking.
Sandiso has performed in a lot of functions such Arts and Culture functions,
private gigs, he was also a regular headliner at the sessions that took place
at Talamanca, hosted by Brute Force. |
