I Got The Biko Complex In Me
by nathi xinwa

i got da biko-complex in me
i hold it proud and fly-it-high
with so much death, i still won’t cry
i got dis torture-me hopeless-complex in me

i got da i-am-free doctor-luther-psalm in me
wit ma fist in da air
“challenge dis dream - if you dare”
i got dis preacher-boy-hero-complex in me

i got dis you-got me jailed, i’m-not-contained madiba-jive in me
no bullets can harm this mentality
can’t hold you to your flaws - for i am free
nation-building-father-figure-complex in me

i got da army-leading rebel-taming malcom-x in me
the disciplined demenour and da holy decree
with a round of bullets-from-a-brotha
this giant still won’t fall or falter
for i got da religious-soldier-complex in me

i fail to have da samaritan-complex you seek
to aid the world through love and purity
i’ll sream from the mountains - i’m all for humanity
while trampling on hope with my nobility.

i got the saviour-complex
tied to my greed mentality.
