Four Seasons of Hope
by litha sangqu

Show me a place in winter
That is warm and welcoming,
A place where coldness is not known
Even on the outside
Where snow falls only to bring joy
A place where cuddling is the name of the game.

Let me know of a place in autumn
Where the wind is calm and swift,
The wind you dance and sway in
That shakes the leaves to wipe my tears,
The leaves you crush underfoot to feel alive
A place where whistling is learned from the wind.

Give me a field in spring
That is differently bright coloured,
Flowers that bring a smile and a tear
Giving thanks to their Creator more than you and i,
A time where lilies show their thanks down the valley
Where frogs croak joyfully on water lilies.

Have you seen a place in summer?
Where birds sing melodically every morning,
Dressed in their feathers as in suits?
Where plants are green, rejoicing with the rain.
When all over the world all you hear from people
is the phrase of the season;

“Compliments of the year”
