Desire's Pounding
by mhlabase msibi

Hurry
No more need to need
Escaped
Thudding not wanted
Speed not known by them
But followed
Sorrow known not known when known
But taken for what it is
Questions asked not answered
For they knew not to
Thunder stuck between them
Separate existence together
Even further apart when lightning illuminates
Loves light dimming to the heart as head knows better
Can never be
Will never see in the light
For hearts know not light, but
Direction followed precisely
Told to turn but un-listening
For hearts hear not the thud of others
But see eyes meet
Without light without sound
Hearts find eyes and other hearts
Hearts wrong but persistent to the vibration of pounding intensity
The hearts fall and fail
Creating unwanted reactions
But the universe knows
For it hears hearts
It sees light
It traverses through lightning
And holds thunder
Dead heart sees
Hears
But does not feel the pounding that is desire
Heart weeps
Regretting not seeing
Not hearing
But loving having felt
Desire's pounding.
