Blackman
by phumlani mngcebele

An ancient warrior
A son of Africa
Oh, an African child
He fights for liberty
Born by an African woman
Young child, a liberator.

I am talking about an icon
He who has been here for decades
He who has been silent for a century
A black man, a child of Africa
An African child
The son of Africa
He is born.

I invite you to his castle
A home of heroes and heroines
Son of Africa is born
The African legacy is attained
He is a child
A man of the world
He is born
And I am proud.
