Unathi Yola Kupa

She’s a well groomed young lady who oozes with passion and has an unquenchable zest for life; Unathi Yola Kupa (23) is a poet, painter, writer and owner of 2spoons Events Management Company.

The outspoken beauty admits that running a business is no walk in the park "especially when dealing with people who do not understand prioritizing, when you have time frames." fortunately she has the support of her friends and parents to see her through the trying times.

"people forget that poetry is an art form"

Albeit the company was officially registered in July 2008 it has rendered its services to well respected business people and has collaborated with Blue Milk Entertainment and Keith Ngesi Audio Production.

It's hard to believe that Unathi who seems to be destined for success is a college drop out, she studied Marketing but dropped out when she was introduced to stats "numbers are just not my forte.'' she explains. After dropping out she pursued her dream of running her own company, she enrolled for Events Management at Damelin and has never looked back since then.

"In this industry each event is different it's like a baby you are blessed with, at a certain extent it reaches maturity and fulfillment, you can not help but feel humbled."
This kind of job requires you to have stress tolerant levels that are high, you need to be calm, creative, and diligent and be able to keep focused.
Being a business person is not the only thing that is occupying her life she calls herself a philosopher and of course a poet; it's a pity she thinks East London poetry is under developed "people forget that poetry is an art form, its sad to see that most poets are just after the money. if poetry is your bread and butter then do it in a acceptable way not through the exploitation of others.'' poetry does not need to be lab ratted and why should it be groomed in confined spaces” She adds.
For the first time since the interview started, Ms Kupa looks rather ticked off, to cool things off we talk about her love for painting.  she lightens up and is not hesitant to confess that her room is a canvas "there are paintings and drawings everywhere even behind the door.'' she echoes with pride.

So where to from here? ‘‘Watch this space, there is an empire coming up.''
