DESOLATION
- by Nicole Breen

I’m ravished by loneliness in my state of insanity,
in an act of debauchery;
lawless profanity.
Consuming me entirely in his villanous embrace,
my reluctant lips moulded to his repulsive face.
All alone in my madness,
I have no escape from this malevolent act,
this bloodthirsty rape.

One with each other,
though without my consent
in this tortorous rapture
till his wanting is spent.
His marauding demeanour
prompts his return night after night
and he makes my blood burn
with his lust for my pain
and his thirst for my tears
and his taste for my fright.

Why does he plague me with his rancid carress
with a hunger it seems he cannot suppress?
Why this return;
Why can’t he cease?
I pray for my life
and I pray for my peace.

Am I never to be freed from his trecherous reign,
eternaly tortured,
subjected to pain?
Will I escape when I draw my final breath?
Is my one hope for redemption,
My death
