Bandile Magibili

Bandile Magibili

Bandile Magibili, an artist, freelancing graphic designer, art promoter, photographer, and a great lover of nature, was born in Danger’s Hoek, a small village in Sterkspruit, Eastern Cape. He has four brothers and was raised by his grandmother.

"I discovered and learned that everywhere I go politics, corruption, media, the education system and the government remain the social stumbling block for the development of South African arts. All those in power think for artists and not with them"

In 2008, he established what is currently known as Alphabetic Art Culturetainment with his brother. The company focuses on graphic designing, printing, framing, branding and photography, skills which he already has. “The company squeezed in events management after identifying that most promoters around the province worship ideals that are unethical”, says Bandile.

As an artist, he is inspired by life, self and human behaviour. His love for uplifting people also inspires him. “I discovered and learned that everywhere I go politics, corruption, media, the education system and the government remain the social stumbling block for the development of South African arts. All those in power think for artists and not with them” he says.

When Bandile was in primary school, he already had a flair for art. “Each time the teacher was teaching I would sketch something, each and every stroke I made had a positive impact on me. The teacher would think that I’m not concentrating but when I revisit the sketch/drawing from home I would remember every part of the lesson.”

While growing up, he aspired to be an architect, and ended up studying some Information Technology at Walter Sisulu University. In the events organizing sector, Bandile gave birth to the concept of Art Sensation, which ran for its second year in May. “The motive behind the event is to orientate, equip and motivate all artists with the platform, leading to the mass emigration of artists to other provinces” he adds.

Bandile is also involved in documentaries, he has ideas that still need to touch the lives of many and influence the viewers out there. “There are a lot of untold truths about the comedic and Eurocentric policies implemented in South Africa, and also the fact that everything in this country is politicized to an extent that plenty of those who posses power lack sense and courage. I have a very strong and informative statement to make to the world.

When he enters the stage, he introduces his alter ego, Prospect. This part of his character is a prophet of people’s emotions. He is not just a poet, but also a simple man who presents what the people have written. “Prospect is deeper than the word” he adds.

Bandile is currently branding small and big businesses, provincial and national government departments, municipalities and educational institutions. This also entails printing and designing of street banners, wall/desk calendars, print adverts, posters, brochures and all other relevant services.

He closes off with motivational words to our readers saying: “Follow your inner being, Wise souls don’t measure their worth and riches with figures but by their ability to positively influence and treasure nature and all those who live in it!" “There’s no better province other than the Eastern Cape, believe it or not!
